Enhanced Health and Safety Plan

As we prepare to welcome back our gymnasts, parents, and staff, protecting the health and safety of our students will be our top priority. Here are a few things we will be doing over the summer in order to create a safe space for all Academy team members and recreational students.

Social Distancing for Gymnasts

All students and team members will be able to maintain at least a six foot distance from other students and guests. We will be altering our team practices to reduce overlapping schedules and we will include time between classes and practices to avoid crowing at the entrances, the lobby and in the rest rooms. This will also to give coaches and instructors time to clean and sanitize equipment between classes.

Gymnasts are asked to should keep all of your personal equipment -- grips, wraps, tiger paws, etc -- in a gym bag and carry it with you during practice. Each athlete should bring his or her own water bottle (public drinking fountains have been deactivated) along with hand sanitizer and any other personal items to be kept in the gym bag.

Social Distancing for Guests

Chairs will be placed in the observation area with a six foot separation for anyone who wishes to stay in the gym during practice or classes. We ask that no more than one parent per child be present in the gym during practice times. In total we will have space for no more than 32 guests between both lounges at a time. The lunch tables in the lounges have been positioned to help maintain appropriate social distancing.

We have positioned a new check-in kiosk at the gym's front entrance; all gymnasts and guests, without exception, will be required to check in at the front door kiosk before entering the guest area. Only children who are registered for class may enter the gym. All guests and students will be checked with no-touch thermometers as they arrive.

Parents should avoid bringing non-enrolled children or siblings into the guest area unless it is absolutely necessary.

Protective Measures in the Gym

All parents, instructors and guests will be required to wear face covering while inside the building. Students and athletes are encouraged to wear face covering if they wish to do so. It is possible that everyone will be required to wear them whenever they leave the house; AAG is prepared to abide by any and all mandates by the State of Illinois.

AAG Staff will be diligently disinfecting and sanitizing all door handles and surfaces between classes and practices. Equipment, mats and bathroom surfaces will also be cleaned and sanitized during the breaks, and at least one staff member will be specifically assigned to continuously wipe down surfaces during classes. In addition, we strongly urge all gymnasts to thoroughly wash hands and/or use hand sanitizer after practice and before returning home.

Class ratios have been reduced to avoid congestion in the gym. No more than eight students to a class. Classes will be set to a fixed rotation schedule with weekly lesson plans designed to maintain social distancing during all exercises.

We are also asking parents and caregivers for donations of additional hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes to help keep our facility safe and healthy.

Limiting Access to our Facilities

We will check the temperature of our staff at the start of their shift every day. No one with a temperature above 99.8 will be allowed to stay. Furthermore, we are asking parents and students to be mindful of their own health and symptoms on a regular basis. If you have a cold or any flu-like symptoms, we ask that you refrain from entering the gym for at least 14 days after the last noticeable symptoms. Guests, staff or students who exhibit symptoms -- such as fever, dry cough, high temperature, complete loss of taste or smell -- are asked to remain outside the facility.

All students and guests entering the building will be asked to use hand sanitizer at the entrance before proceeding into the guest areas or gyms. The main entrance path will be designated at the start of class for all arrivals to check in at the front kiosk. The exit path will be similarly marked at the opposite side doorway in order to avoid congestion at walk paths and doorways. Only registered students or parents will be allowed into the gym or guest area at this time.
These and other steps will help to create a safe space for students and team members to practice the sport of gymnastics this summer. In all cases we will adhere to the State of Illinois requirements.

We can't wait to have everyone back in the gym again!
